Remembering May 8th 1945

News
05.05.2025
8 May 2025 marks 80 years since the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany to the Allies. The day is known as VE Day in some countries; in Germany, it is known as Liberation Day (Tag der Befreiung). To commemorate the same occasion 10 years ago, in 2015, we posted a selection of titles published by Suhrkamp over the previous 70 years that dealt – directly or indirectly – with the horrors of Nazi rule, the Holocaust, and the Second World War.

This year, we have picked out 10 titles published in the interceding years to once again draw attention to this important anniversary.
